The main entrance to the metro station will be situated in the marina area on the east shore of Koivusaari, while the second entrance is to be constructed on the western shore of Lauttasaari at Katajaharju. Escalators will lead to the ticket hall located at ground level on the Katajaharju side of the station. The main ticket hall will be one floor below ground level. The platform will be located inside the rock approximately 33 metres below ground level and 30 metres below sea level.

Passengers from new districts
Koivusaari is being planned as a maritime residential area of high-quality for around 4,000 residents and the workplace of around 2,000 people. The City of Helsinki organised an international competition on the design of the area in 2008. According to the award-winning candidate the new buildings would mainly be constructed on the shores of the island, largely on made-up ground. The Western Motorway would be covered with a deck extending the length of the island.
A new residential block is also planned for the western part of Lauttasaari in the Katajaharju area. In the draft for the amendment of the town plan, the Western Motorway is partly in a tunnel, with a block of residential buildings to be constructed on top of the tunnel. New apartments could be constructed for around 1,100-1,200 residents.
