New contractors chosen

Five west metro contract agreements were signed the 26th of March. Destia Rail Oy won the west metro rail line superstructure contract to complete the rail tracks and switches, including substructures. VR Track Oy will provide the tracks and switches to be installed. The superstructure contract price is approximately EUR 18 million. Construction will begin in spring 2014. The installation of tracks will begin in Ruoholahti, where they will be joined to the current metro line, and then progress to Matinkylä, to be completed by the end of 2015.

“When the track construction begins, the traffic conditions in the tunnel will change so that rubber wheel traffic will gradually give way to rail traffic as the work progresses,” says Länsimetro Oy CEO Matti Kokkinen.

Amplit Oy was awarded the Urheilupuisto station electrical contract. The total value of the contract is approximately 2.7 million euros and covers all electrical work for the station. Lemminkäinen Talotekniikka Oy won the Urheilupuisto station HVAC contract. The total value of the contract is approximately EUR 2.4 million and covers all HVAC work at the station. Work on the electric and HVAC projects will begin in spring 2014 with planning and is estimated to be completed in 2015.

Deliveries will begin in spring 2014 and the project will be completed at the end of 2015.
