Siemens was chosen to supply the fire detector system for the west metro

Siemens and Länsimetro have agreed on the delivery of fire detector systems. The system covers the eight stations and rail tunnels of the west metro. The total contract price is EUR 3.5 million. Installation of the fire detector system will begin in autumn 2014 and will be completed by the end of 2015.
The delivery also includes a graphic control system and fire detection systems for the stations and technical facilities.

– “For us, it is important that information about a possible fire is obtained quickly. The fire detector system must not generate false alarms that interfere with traffic,” says Länsimetro’s CEO Matti Kokkinen.

The security system is connected to the control room in Herttoniemi, which monitors the Helsinki metro’s fire detector system as well. Siemens has also provided the system in use in Helsinki.
