The Länsi-Uusimaa Department for Rescue Services will organise a rescue exercise at the West Metro worksite at Otaniemi. The exercise will take place at the worksite base (Tekniikantie 10) on Thursday, 8 May from 1 pm to 4 pm. The scenario for the exercise is that a machine catches fire and an employee is suddenly taken ill. The Rescue Services train personal rescue and firefighting in a tunnel under the conditions of the construction phase. Simultaneously, cooperation between the Rescue Services, Länsimetro and the contractor will be tested.
The exercise is the twenty-third of its kind to be organised at a West Metro worksite. The participants will include YIT Rakennus Oy, which is the contractor of the Aalto University station, Länsi-Uusimaa Department for Rescue Services and Länsimetro. The total duration of the exercise will be around three hours.
The exercise will not affect traffic in the area. Traffic will be directed locally as necessary.
The public are requested to avoid the area of the exercise site where possible.
