Contracts for gas suppression system and standby generators signed

The standby generators for West Metro will be supplied by TYL Geneset Powerplants. The value of the contract is about EUR 1.4 million. The standby generators are generators driven by diesel engines. These will be located in designated facilities at all stations to ensure an uninterrupted power supply to critical systems in case of a disruption in the power grid.

The gas suppression system for West Metro will be supplied by Mako Oy. The gas suppression system contract includes fire extinguishing systems for all telecommunications and automation rooms on the West Metro line where traditional sprinklers cannot be used. The value of the contract is about EUR 415,000.

There are a few contracts left to sign for the West Metro project this year and next year. Excavations are now 99% complete. In the construction projects, retaining wall elements have been installed over a stretch of six kilometres by this time. Construction is proceeding in parallel in the metro tunnels and at four stations, and soon all stations will be under construction. At that time, the project will be employing more than 1,000 people, according to Matti Kokkinen, CEO of Länsimetro Oy.
