Rock blasting at the access tunnel in Kivenlahti will begin on 13 April. Blasting will be announced by a series of short signals before the blast and a long signal afterwards. After the on-ground rock blasting is completed, the work will continue underground with the building of the tunnel in late May 2015. Blasting of the tunnel will continue until October 2015.
After the access tunnel project, a rail tunnel and metro station site will be excavated. During both work phases, blasted rock will be taken to the Länsiväylä motorway and further afield for use in other construction projects. Haulage will be based on the blasting times. Blasting will occur 1–3 times a day.
