Alteration work on the overhaul track and night-time train depot will start up in week 19 to the west of Matinkylä station

The construction and testing of the West Metro’s Matinkylä–Kivenlahti section has proceeded to the stage where the alteration work on the overhaul track and night-time train depot to the west of the current western terminal station Matinkylä will begin on Monday 9 May 2022. When metro traffic continues from Matinkylä to Kivenlahti, the space in question will no longer be used as a service and storage area for metro trains, and the area will be available to metro traffic. The work will continue until 20 July 2022. The contractor for the alteration work is GRK Infra Oy.

The work will not cause disturbances in metro traffic. The loading of crushed rock and ballast may cause some noise nuisance in the vicinity of Hyljetie and Kaitaantie, and the smoke extraction fan may cause a whirring sound at the Tiistilä shaft.

The overhaul track to the west of the Matinkylä metro station has been used for servicing and storing metro trains at the western end of the operating metro line. When metro traffic continues from Matinkylä to Kivenlahti, the space will no longer be used for this purpose and the area will be available to metro traffic. The alteration work will take place between 9 May and 20 July 2022.
