Surveys and reports

Project plan

The project plan was completed in December 2007. Calculations and surveys based on the plan formed the basis for the project decision. The project plans will also form the starting point for the construction design of the west metro.

The technical section of the project plan in its entirety as a pdf file. You can also review the project plan at the west metro's offices in Tapiola.

Helsinki Metropolitan Area Council feeder network plan

When the west metro begins traffic, direct bus lines from southern Espoo to the centre of Helsinki via the Western Motorway will be replaced by feeder traffic. Buses will transport passengers to the metro stations, and metro trains will continue to Helsinki. Buses of the so-called 500 series which operate via Töölö will continue in traffic. Night-time traffic will continue to be operated with direct bus connections. The traffic and route plans will be specified during the project. Further information on how the metro will affect transport can be found in the Environmental Impact Assessment report, see http://www.raideyva.fi/.

Metro to influence land use

The metro will connect the southern parts of Espoo to the regional rail transport system. Matinkylä and Tapiola will become more closely connected to the Helsinki Metropolitan Area. There will be a direct metro connection between the campuses in Otaniemi and the centre of Helsinki.

Drafting of the Koivusaari local plan, which has been marked as an investigation area in the Helsinki Master Plan for 2002, has already been initiated. The opportunity to build new housing, office space as well as recreational and leisure areas in Koivusaari is being investigated.
