Länsimetro Oy was established with a joint decision of the cities of Espoo and Helsinki in June 2007, and Matti Kokkinen was selected as the company's Managing Director.
Länsimetro Oy currently employs seven full-time employees. The aim is to only hire new employees where absolutely necessary. Instead, Länsimetro is to exploit its extensive network of officials and collaborative partners who are best able to promote the project during its various phases as the top experts in their fields.
Länsimetro has so far signed consulting agreements with the construction consultant, chief designers and construction designers. The first contract for the excavation work in Ruoholahti was signed in the autumn 2009.
