In Lauttasaari there is an access tunnel contract managed by the METRO consortium and a metro tunnel contract managed by Kalliorakennus-Yhtiöt. The worksite areas are the Myllykallio metro tunnel site, located next to the Lauttasaari Elementary School, and the Lauttasaari access tunnel site, located on a former service station plot beside the shopping centre.

The Myllykallio access tunnel contract was completed at the beginning of the year, and work has begun at Myllykallio on excavating the metro tunnel and station. The Lauttasaari access tunnel will be completed in the autumn. Excavation of the rail tunnels will then begin from the Lauttasaari access tunnel too. All in all, metro excavations at Lauttasaari and Koivusaari will continue until 2012.
