In Koivusaari, work on the station and rail tunnel excavation contract began in July 2011. The Koivusaari contract includes retaining structures, earth construction and rock excavation at the eastern and western entrances to the station and at Katajaharju. The eastern entrance will be located on the seashore partly on a landfill embankment. The contract also includes excavation of Koivusaari station and of nearly 2 km of rail tunnel. The contract is being undertaken by Lemminkäinen Infra Oy.

Worksite base
The worksite office for the contract is located in the fenced worksite area for the Koivusaari access tunnel, address: Vaskisalmenkuja 1. Vehicular, pedestrian and bicycle traffic will be rerouted to a temporary road on the landfill embankment for the duration of work on the eastern entrance. Pedestrian and bicycle traffic will be rerouted around the Katajaharju shaft worksite during August 2011. Follow the changing traffic arrangements and view the worksite map.
